“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”
So many people discount the desert. Summing it up as a wasteland of nothing. But it is full of life. Just look at the super-blooms of last year and this year, flowers of many colors across the landscape. The desert holds many opportunities. Expansive by day and oppressively dark by night. Nights so dark and silent you feel as if you need to gasp for breath. Wishing the wind would kick up just a bit so you had something to focus on besides your own heart beating.
“In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty,
how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest
where no-one sees you,
but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes this art.”
